Born in the charming city of Worcester, Massachusetts, Alex J. Gonzalez, Esq., was destined for a life in law. However, it was the bustling streets of Miami, Florida, where he was raised, that shaped his passion for justice and advocacy. His educational journey began at Christopher Columbus HS, a local Catholic high school, before he embarked on an exciting academic pursuit at the University of Central Florida (UCF) in Orlando, Florida. At UCF, he not only excelled in his studies but also took on various roles at the prestigious labor and employment law firm, Egan, Lev & Siwica, P.A. During his time there, he served as a law clerk, paralegal, and investigator, gaining invaluable practical experience even before law school. Pursuing his dreams further, he attended Roger Williams University (RWU) School of Law in Bristol, Rhode Island, where he thrived as an active participant in the local maritime association. His exceptional legal acumen was recognized with the CALI Excellence for the Future Awards in Ocean & Coastal Law and Advanced Legal Writing, showcasing his dedication to the field. During his law school journey, he further honed his skills as an intern at Settipane & Associates, an exclusive Plaintiff personal injury law firm based in Providence, Rhode Island. Upon graduating from RWU, he returned to his beloved South Florida and was granted admission to practice law in the State of Florida, as well as in the U.S. District Courts of Florida. Throughout his illustrious legal career, Alex has served as a formidable force, representing both Plaintiffs and Defendants in a wide range of cases, including admiralty and maritime matters, business torts, commercial litigation, and contract disputes. His clientele spans across the globe, as he has expertly represented international clients in various complex legal scenarios, such as maritime wrongful death, maritime personal injury, labor and employment, and commercial transportation cases. His deep expertise in international and domestic arbitration is evident through his adept handling of cases governed by esteemed bodies like the American Arbitration Association (“AAA”) Employment Rules, the AAA’s International Centre for Dispute Resolution (“ICDR”) Rules, the International Bar Association (“IBA”) Rules, the International Court of Arbitration (“ICC”) Rules, the International Council for Commercial Arbitration (“ICCA”) (The Hague circa 2014), and the Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards (“New York Convention” circa 1958). As a partner at the Miami office of Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A., he has left an indelible mark on the legal landscape, appearing in various State and Federal courts throughout Florida, and representing Cruise Line Guests (Passengers) victims, as well as valued Crew Member clients in multiple international arbitration proceedings across regions like the Caribbean, South America, India, and Southeast Asia. Alex's unwavering commitment to seeking justice for Plaintiffs who have suffered due to the negligence of others serves as the driving force behind his remarkable legal career.
